TEXTILE MUSEUM LIMA
PERU, 2014

The Textil Museum of Lima is Located between several urban barriers, at the limit of two districts, Cercado de Lima and Rimac. The place is dangerous and divided, becauseof the limits unresolved such as avenues, the river, security artifacts, etc...

These, do not permit the urban dynamics flow. The border situation can be understood at two scales, the metropolitan scale because of the location between principal roads of the city, and the local one, because of the pedestrian flow. However, in the area, no activity can be found because of the border situation that do not let the activities flow around the urban fabric. The project works as an urban connector, sewing the city with its borders and therefore, dissolving the tensions.

The main idea, for the project is the “teatinas”, artifacts from the colony architecture of Lima, a heritage from the Middle East, these artifacts are the responsible of natural lighting and ventilation of interior spaces.

The project adopt these forms and use them in a monumental scale at level 0 (plaza). The pedestrians can experiment the spatial quality of these forms and become aware of the architectural heritage of the place.
