The Topographical research for the city of Chongqing - China was part of the first half of the studio “Regular City: Chongqing”. The studio was divided into several groups to do an extensive investigation, trace and build data for the study of the city. Being a core stage to later develop, an urban design project.
The following topographical drawings show studies about Chongqing territory in reltionship with its built form. Slopes, hydrology, buildings and blocks are some example of the information developed across scales.
In so, we aimed to make a synthesis about how the buildings agreggations change according to the percentage of slope of the terrain. Finding a direct correlation between urban form and territory.
Furthermore, comparing Chongqing with other cities that have a topographical component the investigation also focused on different strategies to deal with territory and infrastructure.
As a final product for the research stage of the project, we developed as a group a masterplan in the richest topographical area of the peninsula. Hence, the projects represent a synthesis of existing and possible interventions in Chongqing.
